We have a large quantity of Dosimeter Corp Model 883 and other ranges available for sale. The Model 883 is a standard instrument that has been extensively used by the nuclear industry for many years and is still used in Emergency Kits at Nuclear Stations for their reliability and ease of use. Unlike electronic dosimeters, no battery is required. We have a few battery operated chargers that we can sell for $80 each in addition to these units, or you can buy new ones online. I really like these because they are inexpensive and work very well as compared to electronic dosimeters costing over $400. We will drift test these prior to selling and only sell those that pass the ANSI Standard for drift of 10% of scale over 24 hrs.
We can do a full ANSI calibration for an additional $30.
For the full c
alibration, we do the 24 hr dri
ft test and irradiat
e t
he dosimeters
with NIST Traceable
so
urces
and verify accuracy. Y
ou would then receive our calibration
certificate.
If you want this, let us know when you buy and we will send and invoice to bill you for the dosimeters with the calibrations.
For those of you wondering about nuclear events, 5R (5 REM) is the allowable limit for occupational exposure by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and throughout most of the State and federal bureacracy. Even at a dose of 5R you will not have any adverse PHYSICAL effects from radiation. This dosimeter measures dose up to 500 mRem (0.5 REM). The lower scale is useful for those doing nuclear related work who are trying to keep up with their occupational exposure in real time. These do not replace traditional radiation dosimetry that is accredited by the government. We do sell that online at CHP Dosimetry. These are designed to let you know your approximate dose immediately at relatively low cost.
These instruments would be able to give you peace of mind if you ever find yourself in a situation where you may be exposed to radiation. These units are designed to be operated for 24 hrs or less between charges, so be sure to buy a charger from us or someone else.
