    This a NEW 2 pc FLUVAL BIO-FOAM MAX PRE-FILTER sponge for the Fluval 404, 405, 406 & 407 models.
    BIO-FOAM MAX (Blue):
    These are a 2 in 1 biological and mechanical  media with a pattern that is rippled and has 30% larger surface area for debris and waste.  The precise cut prevents bypass.
    Directions say to replace every 6 months.  From experience and best results, replace a DIFFERENT one every 2 months to keep all the bacteria levels high!!
    NOTE:
    You will also get some biologicals with this if you clean it with your warm tank water instead of chlorinated tap which will kill the good bacteria.
    To confirm, they go on the side of the handle of your tall red media basket. (stock photo shows position)
    Unlike this product, GENERIC foam will NOT have this perfect fit and will result in sub-par performance.  GENERIC have not been engineered to last as long or perform as well.  Don't cheap out on your fish!
