This is a device used to develop and characterize scintillation probes for the oil exploration and drilling industry.
It consists of a ruggedized
harsh-environment, encapsulated metal-ceramic photomultiplier tube
(PMT) made by EMR Photoelectric (a division of Schlumberger, now known as Schlumberger Princeton Technology Center) and a
massive 12" Long x 2 " diameter NaI(Tl) crystal
in stainless-steel jacket made by Quartz & Silice.
The PMT is an EMR Photoelectric / Schlumberger model 543N-01-13-M5D.
An absolute beauty
for
high-sensitivity, high-resolution
x-ray and gamma-ray spectroscopy!  Requires +2kV bias.
TESTED
Use for DIY prospecting, mine exploration, natural gas prospecting, Helium gas prospecting, oil well logging, general-purpose gamma radiation spectroscopy, industrial x-ray systems, Farnsworth fusor, etc.
