The RadiaCode 101 dosimeter detects Gamma, high energy Beta, and continuous X-rays in the energy range 0,05-3,0 MeV and in the power range 0,1-1000 μSv/h.
The RadiaCode 101 dosimeter is a fundamentally new generation of dosimeters, distinguished by an ultra-high measurement speed (which is 20-30 times higher than the speed of conventional dosimeters) and the ability to determine the radioactive substance of a radiation source (isotope) using gamma spectrometry technology (which is also not available in conventional dosimeters)).
Dosimeter RadiaCode 101 is designed to assess the ambient background radiation and the level of radiation from various substances and objects.
    Key features of RadiaCode-101
    - instant response to changes in radiation levels
    - binding of measurement results to the coordinates of the area with their display on Google maps (when working with a smartphone)
    - determination of a substance (isotope), which is a source of radiation, using the function of gamma spectrometry
    - long-term autonomous operation - up to 500 hours when switched on
    - huge amount of built-in memory (32 MB or up to 1000 hours of observation)
    - increased splash and dust protection of the case (protection class IP64)
    - indication of the current error of the result (to understand the level of its accuracy)
    - wireless bluetooth communication with smartphone
    - USB connection to PC for full-fledged work with the dosimeter
    - self-update of the device firmware
    - auto backlight display in the dark
    - auto-rotation of the screen image when the device is turned over
RadiaCode-101 is a wearable dosimeter that you can turn on, put in your backpack and walk with it everywhere for up to 30 days without recharging. Due to the fact that this device is based on a scintillation sensor with a measurement speed 20 times higher than that of conventional dosimeters, this allows the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter to instantly detect sources of increased radiation (ultra-fast search) and build a radioactive track on Google maps during your movement on the terrain. If the device detects that the background is exceeded even during your movement, it will immediately give an alarm signal.
The device works both autonomously and can communicate with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
Also, having a RadiaCode 101 dosimeter, you can now identify types of radioactive isotopes using the built-in gamma spectrometry function. So, after spending quite a bit of time, you will now be able to check food for the presence of the most popular isotope Cesium-137, which fell out with Chernobyl precipitation in vast territories of Russia and European countries (as well as for the presence of other isotopes). Cesium-137 can be found in berries, mushrooms, dairy products, livestock, game, honey, and fish.
    Integration with Google Maps
An interesting feature of the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter is the ability to mark the results of radiation measurements on a Google map (when paired with a smartphone). The device makes marks of the radiation situation automatically with an interval set in the settings. As a result, the map shows the path traveled on the ground in the form of marks of a uniform color (at the same level of radiation power) and marks of other colors (at higher levels of radiation power). Due to its compactness and wireless Bluetooth connection, the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter can be conveniently placed in a sports case on the lower leg (closer to the ground) or on the arm, and visual control of the detected radiation (if necessary) can be carried out using a smartphone.
    Spectrometer function in RadiaCode-101 device
The RadiaCode-101 device is not only a dosimeter-radiometer, but can also perform the function of a gamma-spectrometer. For many people, the word "spectrometry" is somewhat frightening - perhaps it is something complicated and incomprehensible, hence "unnecessary for me." In fact, this is a very useful feature, even for the average user. RadiaCode-101 graphically displays the energy spectrum of the absorbed gamma radiation emanating from the radiation source under investigation. By analyzing the shape of the graph of this energy spectrum, it is possible to determine the substance - the isotope, which is the source of radiation. The most convenient way to view the spectrum graph is, of course, on the display of a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.
    Instrument operating modes
The dosimeter RadiaCode-101 carries out collection, accumulation and analysis of data in a continuous mode. Therefore, at any time, one of the following options for displaying the assessment of the radiation situation is available:
Monitor: assessment of dose rate and count rate (Sv / h, R / h, CPS, CPM)
    Dose estimate (Sv, R)
    Operational search (CPS, CPM)
Energy spectrum (linear or logarithmic scale).
In this case, changing the information display mode does not reset the measurements of all specified parameters.
Features of the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter sensor
The dosimeter RadiaCode-101 is designed on the basis of a scintillation radiation sensor.
    This sensor includes:
CsI (Tl) crystal of cesium iodide doped with thallium in a sealed container
    silicon photomultiplier
optical interface between scintillator and photomultiplier
precision temperature compensated power supply for photomultiplier tube
high-speed analog-to-digital circuit for processing pulses from a photomultiplier
In combination with the adaptive processing algorithm, this gives the user of the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter the following options:
high sensitivity to gamma and x-ray radiation
count the number of pulses (radioactive decays)
take into account the pulse amplitude
to estimate the radiation dose equivalent to the human body
display the shape of the energy spectrum of ionizing radiation
evaluate the random error of dose and dose rate estimates
    instant notification of radiation hazard
The CsI (Tl) crystal, optimal in shape and size, plus a solid-state photomultiplier plus a special analog-digital processing - all this gives the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter high sensitivity in a wide range of ionizing radiation energies, the same in all directions from the device.
The point is that a characteristic feature of any scintillation crystal is the dependence of the radiation sensitivity on the shape of the crystal. So, if the crystal is made in the form of an elongated parallelepiped, then the readings of a device equipped with such a sensor may be different, depending on which side of the device is turned to the radiation source under investigation. In the RadiaCode-101 dosimeter, the CsI (Tl) crystal is made in the correct cubic shape, which provides it with the same sensitivity to radiation in all directions from the device.
