At once Pre-Columbian and 20th-century modernist in design, this hand-forged, sterling silver bracelet most likely dates to the 1970's or '80s.
It is composed of seven chevron-shaped links, joined together by oval connectors that are embellished with applied, silver beads. The wonderfully articulated links have been fashioned as undulating serpents, hand-cut in stylized, angular forms, and surmounted to a heavily patinated base. As a final flourish, turquoise blue, art glass cabochons are set within the recess of each snake's head to serve as its eye. The vivid contrasts of the burnished silver, scorched black grounds, and vibrant cabs create superb dramatic and dimensional effects—and make the bracelet a striking attention-getter!
